Cascade Drama Collective
Where: Millwood Community Centre
When: Suspended till further notice
Everybody is welcome to be part of the cascade Drama Collective. At Cascade we love all things creative and drama groups and productions are a huge part of what we do as a charity.
Whether you're new to performing or an old hand getting involved in the groups and productions can be of immense value to your recovery. Building confidence, making new friends, over coming fears. Drama is a fantastic way to have fun and release your imagination. To learn some new skills from performing, creating sets and props to lighting and sound.
Our first performance 'Aladdinsane' was written especially for Cascade by a playwrite in recovery. It was performed again, with a whole new cast, in February 2017 to sell out audiences. 'The Elephant in the Room', written by one of our own volunteers, and first showcased at our variety evening "Unity Rocks" celebrating Recovery month 2016 and again in the Brighton Fringe 2017.
The spectacular 'Cascade Christmas Cracker' in December 2017 featured performances from the Cascade Choir, Cascade Open Mic, two amazing recovery bands and of course a piece from the Cascade Drama Collective.
In addition to our shows we've had drama classes from the brilliant Kate lodge of Small Performance Adventures, a local tutor who specialises in working with people in recovery. As well as clowning workshops to classes in the meisner technique.
More classes are coming soon and preparations for a summer show, a performance in recovery month (September) and our Christmas extravaganza are all underway.
If drama is a passion or just a mild curiosity please come and get involved.
